Transitions in Life
Every life involves a variety of changes: separations, illnesses, deaths, loss of work or home, uncertain life circumstances and age-related life transitions and crises. Such transitions force us to overcome habitual thought patterns and develop an inner attitude that sustains us despite the uncertainty. Not only do we have to deal with physical and psychological changes, we also have to find our place in society anew.
Grief
We usually understand grief as a desolate emotional state. At the same time, grief is also a process of transformation, a psychological maturing process. Every experience of grief is unique, just like our relationships; we can therefore only partially recognise ourselves in the experiences of others. And often we cannot even share our grief with those who have suffered the same loss. Everyone grieves in their own way and the expression of grief is multifaceted. Facing this inner process requires courage and determination.
Whenever we have to say goodbye to something that has had a significant impact on our lives, we are exposed to the process of mourning. Different phases alternate, often accompanied by painful images and emotions. We move back and forth until we can take a step into the open of a new future. Allowing ourselves to be transformed by grief means recognising life and death.
